Belonging to the top 40 Southern Nevada Business Executives under 40 by the Las Vegas Business Press, Mr. Groesbeck played a key role in the supporting and founding of several businesses. He is a long-time Nevada resident and a seasoned entrepreneur and legal professional with over 30 years of experience, including service as the Mayor of the City of Henderson from 1993 to 1997. Mr. Groesbeck holds a BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, an MBA from National University, and a JD from Western Michigan University.
Larry Scheffler has been a resident of Nevada for over 50 years. He founded Las Vegas Color Graphics, Inc. in 1978 and grew it into the largest privately-owned commercial printing company in Nevada, with a staff of over 200. Mr. Scheffler also served as a councilman for the City of Henderson, Nevada from 1990 to 1995, and as a commissioner on 6 major commissions in the Southern Nevada government. He has an extensive background in real estate and has founded and is managing director of entities controlling over 1,000 acres in 3 states that are under some form of development.
Steve McLean joined Planet 13 in September of 2019 and is responsible for overseeing the Finance and Accounting operations for the Company. Mr. McLean has been a Las Vegas, Nevada resident since 2009. He currently serves on the Clark County Credit Union Supervisory Committee and previously served as chair for several years. Mr. McLean has held financial leadership positions in various industries, including luxury retail, manufacturing, distribution, and banking, among others. Mr. McLean obtained his accounting degree in Toronto, Canada, where he held the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation for 10 years. He also received his Master’s degree in Taxation from the University at Albany in Albany, New York and holds Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designations.
Chris Wren joined Planet 13 in March 2014 and is responsible for the oversight of all production and cultivation operations. Mr. Wren also designed and managed the construction of the Company’s dispensary, the Clark County cultivation facility and the Beatty complex. Mr. Wren has won several awards for his cultivation efforts, including 1st place in the 2015 International Cannagraphic Growers Cup. A veteran of the cannabis industry, Mr. Wren possesses more than 15 years of cannabis industry experience.
Tatev Oganyan joined Planet 13 in February 2024 and is responsible for overseeing legal matters for the company. Mrs. Oganyan led the licensing and permitting process for the successful opening of the Planet 13 Orange County and Planet 13 Waukegan stores. She further led the regulatory due diligence for the Next Green Wave acquisition, allowing Planet 13 to broaden its popular brand portfolio in California. Before joining Planet 13, Mrs. Oganyan established a leading cannabis practice specializing in licensing and regulatory compliance for premium cannabis brands, which was recognized as a top 100 Company by UCLA in 2022. Mrs. Oganyan has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from UCLA and holds a law degree and Master’s in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law.
Lowell Brown has been with Planet 13 since 2017. Mr. Brown’s journey with the Company is a testament to his dedication, passion, and leadership. Starting as a sales associate, Mr. Brown quickly moved through the ranks by distinguishing himself with his exceptional customer service skills and profound knowledge of cannabis. Mr. Brown has held several key leadership positions throughout his time with the company including heading the Training and Development department as well as holding General Manager positions at both Medizin and Planet 13 Las Vegas. Mr. Brown has seen Planet 13 through the opening of numerous retail stores and our flagship lounge. His hands-on approach and strategic insights were instrumental in these expansions, ensuring each new location offered an unparalleled customer experience. His commitment to excellence and his ability to connect with customers laid a strong foundation for his career growth within the company.
David Loop joined Planet 13 in June 2024 upon its acquisition of VidaCann. Mr. Loop has spent his entire career in the horticulture industry, beginning with Loop’s Nursery & Greenhouses in 1980. Founded in 1949, Loop’s Nursery used environmentally friendly, best management practices to become the largest supplier of potted plants to the supermarket industry in the southeast. Taking over as CEO in 1983, Mr. Loop became an industry leader through the introduction of new varieties and production techniques, growing Loop’s Nursery into one of the top 100 greenhouse facilities in the US. Mr. Loop was instrumental in the founding of VidaCann in 2017 by gaining one of the first medical cannabis licenses in the state of Florida and paving the way for greenhouse grown cannabis practices. Mr. Loop currently sits on the Board of Directors for Aris Horticulture, the Advisory Board of North Florida Farm Credit, and is a member of the Jacksonville Civic Council. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from North Carolina State University.
In 2016, Ms. O’Neal was appointed by former State of Nevada Governor, Brian Sandoval, to the Nevada State Board of Marriage & Family Therapy and Clinical Professional Counselors. She has been the owner of Las Vegas Counselor LLC since 2004, where she provides marriage and family therapy services. Prior to 2004, Ms. O’Neal was an Account Manager at R&R Partners for 13 years. Ms. O’Neal has successfully passed the Series 7 exam and holds a B.S. Marketing and a M.S. Marriage and Family Therapy degree from the University of Nevada. Ms. O’Neal is also a part-time instructor at the UNLV School of Medicine’s Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate Program.
Kevin Martin joined Planet 13 as an independent director in February 2024. Since November 2020, Mr. Martin has held an audit leadership role at HSS Enterprises. Previously, Mr. Martin held senior risk and audit leadership roles at multinational private and public companies, including Irving Oil, Endeavour Mining Corporation, which operates gold mines in West Africa, and The Heico Companies LLP, which manufactures steel, heavy equipment and industrial construction. Mr. Martin is a Chartered Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner, and he has a Certification in Risk Management Assurance.
