OG Kush, the family we grow our own branch of
OG Kush is the most consequential name in American cannabis, the 1990s California plant behind half the modern menu. This guide is about the branch of that family we actually cultivate: the 5150 Triangle Kush x Pure OG Kush cross, grown in-house and pressed in our own lab.
The family, briefly
The accepted story traces OG Kush to 1990s California, usually told as a Chemdawg descendant crossed into a Hindu Kush family plant, with "OG" read as either "Ocean Grown" or "Original" depending on who is telling it. None of that is lab-verifiable and we do not pretend otherwise. What matters on a menu today is that "OG" names a family signature: gas-forward, citrus-edged, caryophyllene and myrcene doing the low end.
The branch we grow
Our cultivation runs the family from the inside. Triangle Kush is Florida's famous OG-family cut, and our 5150 Triangle Kush x Pure OG Kush cross doubles down on that heritage from both parents. Medizin's live rosin from it tests myrcene-first at 2.34% with limonene at 1.87% and caryophyllene behind, 72 mg/g of total terpenes, and an indica-hybrid chemotype; the TRENDI live-resin pen from the same cross reads myrcene 2.96% and lands straight indica. That myrcene-over-limonene shape is a heavier, rounder take on the OG signature than the third-party distillate pods wearing the OG Kush name, which push limonene to the front instead. Same family, different centers of gravity, and the panel tells you which one you are holding.
What the panel vocabulary means
Myrcene-led profiles read earthy and heavy; limonene-led ones read bright and citrus; caryophyllene is the pepper-spice that cannabis shares with black pepper. The OG family mixes all three, which is why two products with the same surname can sit at different points of the five-class spectrum. Our house cross currently sits on the indica side; check the chemotype badge per product, because it is computed from each batch's own panel.
