Biscotti BX1, and what a backcross actually is

Biscotti BX1 is our cultivation's take on Biscotti, one of the defining dessert strains of the last decade, and the suffix is the interesting part: BX1 is breeder shorthand for a first backcross, a technique for locking in a parent's traits. Here is what that means, and what ours tests.

What the name teaches

A backcross (BX) crosses a hybrid back to one of its own parents; BX1 is the first generation of that move. Breeders do it to stabilize a trait they want to keep, at some cost to variety. So a BX1 of Biscotti is a deliberate attempt to make MORE Biscotti-ness, not something new. The base strain's own pedigree circulates in a few versions, so we leave it at "famous dessert cross" and let the panels speak.

What our lab panels show

The dessert brief lands: the live resin tests limonene at 4.8% with linalool 1.38% (89 mg/g total terpenes, sativa-hybrid grade), the live rosin reads the same pair at 3.22% and 1.44% with 95 mg/g, and the cart carries it at 87% THC. The flower prepack grades indica-hybrid at 24.8% THC with the trio close together. Sweet citrus over a soft bakery base: if the backcross's goal was locking the Biscotti character, our lab keeps confirming it took.
