Headband strain: its lineage and history
Headband is widely told as a cross of OG Kush and Sour Diesel, though more than one plant has been sold under the name, and the accounts credit different breeders, DNA Genetics most often. Headband is not on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf at our latest menu update; the live menu shows when a new batch arrives.
What it is
The common account is OG Kush crossed with Sour Diesel, the version DNA Genetics released and has since renamed Sour Kush. One account adds Cali Connection's 818 Headband, from the San Fernando Valley, an SFV OG line crossed with Sour Diesel, and older East Coast accounts tie the name to Diesel lines sold under other names. So the name covers more than one plant, and no record settles which came first.
By the cup's list of winners, Headband Kush, entered by The Green Place, placed third overall at the 2009 High Times Cannabis Cup; one strain listing credits that entry to Reserva Privada instead. All of that is the circulated history, not a lab fact.

When a batch with a lab panel is on our shelf, this section lists each product with its lab panel and its grade on the five-class spectrum. Search Headband on the live menu.
What that means for you
Our shelf can also hold strains whose names include it, which this page does not read as Headband. With more than one plant under the name, a batch's terpenes and its grade on the five-class spectrum tell you more than the label.
Questions people ask about Headband
Is Headband indica or sativa?
Headband is usually described as a hybrid. That is its reputation, not a lab fact. Headband is not on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf today, so no current panel of ours grades it.
How strong is Headband?
Headband is not on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf today, so we will not guess; the live menu lists each batch's tested THC.
What does Headband smell and taste like?
Headband is not on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf today, so we have no current panel to read, and we will not describe it from the name alone.
What effects does Headband have?
Effects vary from person to person and from batch to batch, so we do not promise any. What a panel tells you is the chemistry: which terpenes lead, and the grade it earns on the five-class spectrum.
Is Headband the same as Sour Kush?
Not always. DNA Genetics' Headband, its OG Kush and Sour Diesel cross, has been renamed Sour Kush. Other plants are still sold as Headband, one account naming Cali Connection's 818 Headband, so the two names do not always mean the same plant.
Where can I buy Headband in Las Vegas?
It is not on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf at our latest menu update. Search the live menu, which shows each new batch as it arrives.
Lab figures, when a batch is on our shelf, come from its panel and change batch to batch; the product page always shows the current panel. Effects vary by person; nothing here is medical advice. For use only by adults 21 and older.
