Maui Wowie strain: what the lab panels show
Maui Wowie is widely told as a Hawaiian strain from the growers of Maui in the late 1960s and 1970s, landrace-derived, its exact parents lost. Among the products on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf that carry a lab panel, Maui Wowie comes as three infused pre-rolls and six vapes from Rove, Brass Knuckles and Buddies.
What it is
By the usual account, Maui Wowie came out of Maui, Hawaii, in the late 1960s and 1970s, and its exact parents have been lost. Most strain listings treat it as Hawaiian and landrace-derived; one gives it as a Hawaiian crossed with an unknown strain, one strain database places it with growers around Hana, and one seed company credits the line it keeps to a grower in Lower Nahiku. Dictionaries of slang record the name from the 1970s, for cannabis from Maui.
Its name is the island's with a wow added, spelled several ways, Maui Waui and Mowie Wowie among them. All of that is the circulated history, not a lab fact.

The infused pre-rolls test 39.0% to 46.0% THC and the vapes test 84.2% to 93.1% THC. Vapes are extracts, so their THC reads far higher than plain flower's. Limonene leads five of its nine panels (bright citrus, lemon and orange peel, in the terpene guide's words). Our per-batch grade, set by each panel rather than by the name, calls six of the batches on our shelf indica-hybrid, hybrid or sativa; the other three are not graded.
