Zkittlez is widely told as a cross of Grape Ape and Grapefruit, with some accounts adding a third parent no one has named, popularized in Mendocino County, California, by the growers working as Terp Hogz. What it is
By the usual account, Zkittlez is Grape Ape crossed with Grapefruit, and some accounts add a third, undisclosed parent. The growers working as Terp Hogz popularized it with 3rd Gen Family, and, as one strain database tells their story, the cut came from a grower known as Gas Station Bob. It came to market in the 2010s.
Its name borrows a candy's. The candy's maker sued its growers in 2021, and under a 2023 settlement Terp Hogz now sells its line as The Original Z. It took first place among indica flowers at the 2015 High Times Cannabis Cup in Michigan, and an entry from Humboldt County growers took first place at the 2016 Emerald Cup. All of that is the circulated history, not a lab fact.
