Gelato strain: what the lab panels show
Gelato is the strain widely told as Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, credited to Sherbinski, and on Planet 13's Las Vegas superstore shelf it comes from Rove, STIIIZY and Verano in five formats whose panels disagree: caryophyllene leads two, limonene two, and the STIIIZY pod is a near tie of caryophyllene 1.05% and limonene 1.04%.
What it is
In the usual telling, Sherbinski, of the Bay Area's Cookie Fam, crossed Sunset Sherbet with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. That is reputation, not a lab fact; the panels below are.
What the panels on the Las Vegas superstore's shelf show
Caryophyllene and limonene are on all five panels. Caryophyllene leads two outright: the Verano Reserve live badder at 2.08% with myrcene 1.85% behind (64 mg/g total, the highest of the five) and the STIIIZY 40's infused pre-roll pack at 1.74%. Limonene leads two: the Rove cart at 1.24% and the STIIIZY all-in-one at 0.83%. The STIIIZY pod is a near tie, caryophyllene 1.05% and limonene 1.04%. Grades: indica for the badder and the infused pack, hybrid for the two STIIIZY vapes, sativa-hybrid for the Rove cart. THC reads 33.6% in the infused pack, 74.0% in the badder, and 89.6% to 91.3% in the vapes.
What that means for you
Shop Gelato by format, not by name. The three vapes are distillate, which leaves the still without terpenes, so each panel reads the blend its maker added back (the terpene-sourcing guide explains). Even STIIIZY's own pod and all-in-one, with the same two terpenes on top, balance them differently: a near tie in the pod, limonene ahead in the all-in-one. A search on the menu may also show strains sold under Gelato-family names, Lemon Cherry Gelato among them, and Flight Bites Lemon Cherry Gelato rosin gummies, an edible sold under that name.
